Ain’t Nobody Got Time For That!
“Even to your old age I am he, and to gray hairs I will carry you. I have made, and I will bear; I will carry and will save”
Isaiah 46:4
I can honestly say that I don’t think there has ever been a time in history when we, as a people, have known so much yet understood so little. We are literally pummeled with new information—with the introduction of AI and the constant streaming of news, podcasts, and all forms of media. It’s more than our minds were made to handle, and while we believe it will lead us to a place of answers and contentment, it only seems to deepen our lack of understanding of what really matters.
In the words of one of my favorite viral videos, “Ain’t nobody got time for that!” Literally.
The more we flood our minds with the workings of this fallen world, the more we forgo time with the only true Giver of wisdom, Christ Jesus. The snowball effect that media has on us leaves us overwhelmed and spinning.
Oh, but friend—ain’t nobody got time for that. Not when there is hope to be found.
Oftentimes, in sharing simple truths with those around you, the enemy will shout that you sound ignorant, naïve, or small-minded. But I tell you what—limiting your exposure to the evils of this world is anything but naïve. We were not meant to carry it all. Actually, we weren’t meant to carry anything at all.
But God.
And in His kindness, He tells us exactly what to do with the weight we cannot carry.
Psalm 55:22 reads:
“Cast your burden on the Lord, and He will sustain you.”
The burdens are not yours. None of them. They are His. Your job is only to cast—to cast them at the feet of your Savior who came to take that heavy load off your back. Talk to Him. Cry out to Him. Ask for His Spirit to fill your mind with hope and trust and love for the Lord your God.
Note that I am not minimizing the trials of this world—they hurt and they affect us greatly, some more profoundly than others. I am merely suggesting that we keep our eyes fixed.
The book of Ecclesiastes is one of my recent favorites. The more I dug into it, the more I “got” it. I realized that the book, which at first seems to say the whole world is pointless, is actually reminding us that this world is temporary. Both the good and the bad—temporary. It’s all fleeting.
“I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind.”
— Ecclesiastes 1:14
Rest in the notion of temporary today, especially if you are sitting in the valley of sickness or despair.
Because for those who belong to Christ, the temporary suffering of this world will not have the final word.
“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
— Revelation 21:4
When you see, hear, and learn more about the workings of this world, pause—and cast them. Cast them on the Lord so that you may understand more deeply the purpose we all have in this fleeting moment.
We live to bring Him glory.
We live to worship Him.
We live to tell others about His love.
And that, my friend, is enough.
Yes and Amen.
Reflection: What voices or sources of information are filling my mind more than God’s voice right now?
